Washington Nationals +116 – There’s some value in the Nationals here as a small underdog. The Nationals are not only leading NL East but they are also tops in the National League with a 58-39 record. The Brewers on the other hand are struggling a bit this season after losing some of their key players from last season. Through 97 games so far this season the Brewers are 9 games under.500 at 44-53 which is good for just 11th in the NL. There’s not much more interesting about this game the two starting pitchers have similar numbers so there’s not much of an advantage either way there. The one other thing is both teams are heading in different directions the Brewers have lost 6 straight games while the Nationals have won 5 straight so all things considered getting the Nationals as a small dog represents some good value..
New York Mets -131 – Our first pick is the New York Mets over the Cincinnati Reds. This pick is based mainly off the starting pitchers which is something I usually don’t like to do but the difference here is just too much to ignore. Starting for the Mets is Johan Santana and he’s had a pretty solid season thus far going 1-2 with an ERA of 2.92. Santanas win/lose record of 1-2 dosen’t really support just how well he’s pitched so far this season but in games he’s started the Mets are 4-3. Starting for the Red is Mike Leake and Leake has been flatout horrible this season going 0-5 with an ERA over 7.
Baltimore Orioles +119 – Our second pick is the Baltimore Orioles over the Kansas City Royals. The Orioles are having a grewat season so far not only are they tied for 1st in the AL East, the toughest division in baseball but they are also tied for 1st in the entire American League. So when we can get the top team in the AL as a dog verses the Royals who have been playing better of late but they are still 4th in the weak AL Central you have to take them. An interesting stat for this matchup is the AL Central as a group are just 19-33 against the AL East so far this season.
Tampa Bay Rays -139 – OUr 3rd and final pick for wednesday is the Tampa Bay Rays over the Boston Red Sox. I like playing the Rays at home in general they are 13-3 at home so far this aseason and have played some very good ball at home over the past few years. The Red Sox on the other hand are having a tough season they are last in the AL East and have a lot of key guys out with injurys. The Edge in starting pitchers goes to the Rays here. Hellickson is starting for the Rays he has a 3-0 record on the season with a 2.95 ERA. Starting for the Sox is Clay Buchholz who is pitching more like Clay Aiken. Buchholz has not been good this season he has more walks then strikeouts and an ERA over 8 but suprisenly.
New York Rangers -125 – I like the Rangers to win the series and win game one mainly because they’re the better team overall and have the best goalie in the league right now with Hendrik Lundqvist. But there is another angle and that is the amount of time off inbetween games for the Devils. They last played on may 8th and most people think extra rest is a good thing but a lot of extra rest usually backfires with the team showing a lot of rust.
Baltimore Orioles +100 – There’s a lot of value in the Orioles here because they’re playing the New York Yankees who are usually overpriced but also it still seems like the oddsmakers haven’t jumped on the Baltimore Orioles bandwagon yet this season. The Orioles are first place in the American league east 2.5 games up on the Yankees. The Orioles also have the edge in starting pitching in this game. Even though both pitchers have a 4-1 record Ian Nova for the Yankees has an ERA over 5 compareed to Jason Hammel for the Orioles who has an ERA just over 2. So if you go by the numbers and not the names of the teams Baltimore should be the favourite in this one.
Washington National -149 – You have to like the National in this game they’re a good team that plays good at home verses a bad team that plays bad on the road. That sounds pretty simple but when you look at both teams the Nationals are 3rd in the National league with a 21-13 record while the Padres are last in the National League with a 12-23 record. When you look at the home/away records of both teams it dosen’t get any better for San Diego. The Padres are tied for the worst road record in all of baseball at 3-9 while the Natio.
A couple good picks today in baseball.
Toronto Blue Jays -125 – This is a match-up featuring both teams best pitchers Ricky Romero for the Jays and Brandon McCarthy for the Athletics. I would give the slight advantage to Romero here the Blue Jays are 5-1 in games he starts verses Oakland who are just 2-3 in games that McCarthy starts. The difference maker in this game is going to be on offense and this is where the Jays have the advantage. The Jays haven’t had the best offensive start to the season but they are averaging 4.76 runs per game compared to Oakland who has the worst offense in the American league averaging just 3.34 runs per game.
Tampa Bay Rays +105 – I like Tampa as an underdog here they are the better team overall with a 19-10 record so far this season verses the Yankees who are just 2 games over .500 at 15-13. The Rays also have a big pitching advantage in this game with James Shields starting. Shields is 5-0 on the season with a 3.05 era. Starting for the Yankees is Ivan Nova who some how has managed a 3-1 record despite getting knocked around pretty hard this season. Nova has an era of 5.58 but the key number here is how many hits Nova is giving up. Nova has allowed 45 hits 6 of which have been hone runs all in just 30.2 innings so he’s not fooling anyone..
Huge day for sports betting. The MLB season is just underway, the NBA has 13 games today and the NHL playoffs are starting tonight. It can’t get much better then this for sports bettors.
For the NHL fans out there we have one play tonight. Nashville Predators -122 over the Detroit Red Wings. The Red Wings haven’t played well on the road all season. They actually ended up under .500 on the road with a 17-24. The Nashville Predators on the other hand played very well on home ice this season going 26-15.
In the NBA we have a couple picks. Houston Rockets -5 over the Utah Jazz. The Rockets are playing great ball right now winning 4 in a row. The Rockets also play well at home going with a 18-10 record against the spread. The Jazz on the other hand struggle on the road winning just 9 of 29 games this season.
Our other NBA pick is Phoenix and Memphis under 194 points. Both teams play more unders then overs, if you combine both teams totals records it add up to 41 overs and 71 unders. Memphis has also been playing some great defense lately which has lead to 9 straight unders for the Grizzlies.
In baseball we have just one pick today. Toronto Blue Jays +110 over the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox seem to be getting off to a slow start just like last season. So far they are just 1-4 and their pitching has been horrible with a team era close to 7. The Blue Jays on the other hand has been getting some good pitching out of their started and bullpen. they have a team era under 3 so far this season..
